What Does It Mean
To Be Catholic?

The Catholic Church is a communion of churches as a family with their children.

She, in union with Christ, bears churches from the East and the West (Matthew 8:11). Eastern Catholics are in union with Rome.

We are One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic, ordained by the Promises of Christ:

“The gates of Hell will not prevail. . .My words will not pass away.”

–Matthew 16:18; 24:35

Consider the following:

One family has children, all sharing familial traits of genetics and heritage. And yet, each person, parents and children, are unique. Each has their own talents and contributions. Each lives and loves in a slightly varied way from each other.

As Eve was created out of Adam, the Church is created out of Christ, the New Adam. (Genesis 2:22; John 19:34; Revelation 21:2, 9)

He, the Bridegroom, marries her;

from their devotion, their children mark a glorious 24.

23 have dominant traits in Eastern lineage, while the 1 has Western attributes.

They all share in Catholic Christian heredity and essence.

Each shares their gifts and their heart in the way they are created and called by Christ, the Head of the Church (Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18).

At Ss. Peter & Paul, we are the descendants of those children who provide the talents and treasures of the Byzantine tradition, treasures of the storeroom (Matthew 13:52).

Should you join us for Divine Liturgy, you will see variations

of the gifts we share and offer to God, in proper and just worship.

Yet, you will see, and come to Holy Wisdom,

it is the same Truth and Life presented and given to us, selflessly.

We look forward to celebrating with you, as One.
